Record-Breaking Output in October and November
Thursday, 2011-12-01
In November 2011, LW Bogdanka S.A. achieved net output of commercial coal of 699,000 tonnes, as compared to 543,000 in October this year. Those are record-breaking results in the Company’s history brought by the commencement of mining operations in the Stefanów Field, which saw the trial operation of the wall in the beginning of October this year.
Mining operations in Stefanów are conducted in wall 7/VII/385, which is 305 metres long and has panel length of 5,070 metres. The wall is explored with the use of a ploughing system which the Company bought from Bucyrus (currently Caterpillar) in 2010. The system is currently working at its optimum output capacity in accordance with the LW Bogdanka’s plan.
Investment in the development of the existing infrastructure as well as in the construction of new infrastructure aiming at launching extraction in the Stefanów Field is the key task of the Company’s strategy, whose objective is to double the production capacity from 5.8 million tonnes of coal in 2010 to 11.5 million tonnes annually from 2014 on.
