Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka was awarded an Eagle by the Rzeczpospolita daily for the “Best Manufacturing Company”. The prestigious prize was awarded as a result of a ranking which accompanies the publication of The 500 List by Rzeczpospolita – a list of the major Polish enterprises in terms of revenue and profit. This year’s other prize winners included Polsat Cyfrowy and Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń na Życie ERGO HESTIA.

“The Company had already gained recognition by successfully listing its shares on a public stock exchange contrary to scepticism. Once again, it was rated highly by the market in March this year upon sale of Treasury shares, and by privatizing, it set future, I hope, trends in the mining industry. Today’s prize gives reassurance to the Board about its actions. The pleasure is twofold as we received the Eagle from journalists”, said Mirosław Taras, President of Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka at the award ceremony.
Mirosław Taras was presented with the prize by Waldemar Pawlak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland.
The Eagles were awarded in three categories:
•    manufacturing companies,
•    trading, infrastructure and services companies, and
•    financial companies.
In the manufacturing companies category, in which Bogdanka came top, general performance was evaluated on the basis of profitability, equity, EBITDA, and revenue per employee. Growth dynamics was assessed on the basis of increase in the revenue and investment intensity.
In that category, Bogdanka came ahead of the following nominees: Hutchinson Polska, KGHM Polska Miedź, Mennica Polska S.A., and Stalprodukt S.A.
