BOGDANKA First coal from the Stefanów field is about to be mined.
“Bogdanka concluded an agreement for the construction of a headframe and shaft top building in the Stefanów field”, Tomasz Zięba, Press Spokesman of the mine, informed the Trybuna Górnicza weekly.
The investment will be carried out by Przedsiębiorstwo Montażu Konstrukcji Stalowych i Urządzeń Górniczych Pemug from Katowice. The shaft top building will be ready in January 2011. The agreement, amounting to PLN 34.4 million, relates to the preparation of designs and construction of 2.1 headframe and a shaft top building, along with other facilities, including winch foundations, friction hoist foundations, vent duct, roads, yards, tracks and lighting of the Stefanów field area. The parties agreed that the time limit for the performance of the investment would expire 12 months from a day of signing the agreement, and in no case later than 31 January 2011. The construction of the 2.1 headframe and shaft top building in the Stefanów field is one of the key investments conducted by Bogdanka in connection with the planned start-up of coal extraction from this field in 2011. Thanks to the investment, the extraction capacity of the mine will increase next year from the current 5.5 million tonnes to 7.4 million tonnes of coal.
The undertaking fulfils the investment objective described in the prospectus of LW Bogdanka. During the IPO on 25 June 2009, the Company acquired from investors PLN 528 million, which it intends to allocate for its development. By 2014, the mine intends to double the production, achieving an output at the level of 11 million tonnes of coal. The forecast net financial profit of Bogdanka for 2009 amounts to PLN 178.1 million.
Let us remind that the total loss of mining companies for 11 months of the last year amounted to PLN 191.3 million. Az
