Zakłady Azotowe Puławy S.A and Lubelski Węgiel „Bogdanka” S.A. signed a contract on strategic partnership

ZA Puławy and LW Bogdanka signed a contract
on strategic partnership. On 20 November 2008 Zakłady Azotowe Puławy S.A. and Lubelski Węgiel „Bogdanka” S.A. signed a contract on strategic partnership in the scope of implementation of common projects based upon hard coal. The both companies declared their capital engagement into investment projects, among others the construction of the coal gasification plant.
The both companies are already engaged in the coal gasification project. In the framework of concluded contract, LW „Bogdanka” as the sole hard coal manufacturer in eastern Poland, declared its potential capital engagement into the erection of Coal Gasification Facility planned by ZAP. Therefore Zakłady Azotowe Puławy S.A. intents to establish a joint venture company which will be responsible for project implementation.
The both parties declared also their joint engagement in the construction and development of the objects to be supplied with the gas generated by intended plant i.e. so called „Puławy II”.
Considering the necessity of increased hard coal output, LW „Bogdanka” will initiate the action in order to investigate the opportunities to increase hard coal output within Lubelski region and out of this territory. Zakłady Azotowe Puławy S.A. declared its support for LW „Bogdanka” in course of works required to implement this project.
Additionally, in a long term perspective, the both companies are interested in common participation in power industry projects in the territory of Puławy, Bogdanka or in any other regions in Poland. At the moment, the works are carried out in the scope of feasibility study (FS) phase of the project associated with the erection of coal gasification plant on the request of ZAP..
The results obtained from these works will be used as the basis for further decisions to be made in the scope of investments. Because the part of lands owned by ZAP has been incorporated into the special economic zone, ZAP will support LW „Bogdanka” in its efforts made in order to incorporate the territory of LW „Bogdanka” into “”Starachowice” Special Economic Zone
