Bogdanka Racing in World Championship

Bogdanka Racing is the first team in the history of Polish motorcycle racing to compete with the world’s best riders in the prestigious World Superbike series this season. In a race at the Portimao track in Portugal, which inaugurated the 2010 season, Marcin Walkowiak of Bogdanka Racing claimed his first points in the Superstock class. The team has already raced in Spain, Holland, and Italy. On Tuesday, 11 May 2010, official presentation of the team took place.
Presentation of Bogdanka Racing and a press conference for journalists were organized at the Novotel Centrum hotel in Warsaw. The presentation included riders, the team’s sports plans, and the aims and expectations of the sponsor – Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A., which intends to promote the Bogdanka corporate brand and achieve good will increase for the benefit of the shareholders through long-term sports sponsorship.
By engaging with the team, the sponsor, Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A., implements its strategy of promoting the Bogdanka corporate brand. The relationship feels natural – a group of young riders methodically pursuing top results and a dynamic company striving for success and increase in the added value for shareholders, using innovative solutions and the latest technology.
The first Polish team in SBK World Championship and the first Polish mine listed on the Stock Exchange represent a unity of aims and values.

Bogdanka Racing intends to race throughout the entire FIM Superstock 1000 Cup, which is part of the World Superbike 2010 series. The motorcycle of the team’s leader, Marcin Walkowiak, which is Honda 1000 RR, was prepared by experts from Ten Kate – a World Champion team in the Superbike and Supersport class.
Riders of Bogdanka Racing will also participate in the entire series of the Polish Motor Racing Championship, in which they are one of the favourites.

This year will be the third season for Bogdanka Racing (known as Bogdanka Racing Team until last year).
The team, established by Igor Piasecki, started racing in 2007 and was known as Sport Bike Promotion. In 2008, due to support from a dynamically developing energy sector company, Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A., the team was reorganized and reinforced with an outstanding team member, Marcin Walkowiak, who shone by winning the title of Champion of Poland in the Superstock 1000 class. He came first in the Polish Championship at seventeen, which made him the youngest winner in that category.
In 2009, the team was joined by more riders, including Daniel Bukowski and Marcin Kałdowski. The 2009 season was fruitful. The team came second in the Polish Championship in the Superbike, Superstock 1000, and Superstock 600 classes, was twice the second runner-up in Alpe Adria, and Daniel Bukowski was the first Polish winner of the Alpe Adria international championship, which made it the most valuable trophy.
This year, the team gained new members. In the 2010 season, Bogdanka team colours will be worn by: Marcin Walkowiak, Daniel Bukowski, Marcin Kałdowski, Bartłomiej Wiczyński, and Sebastian Zieliński.
